Camborne property shut for another three months in bid to prevent further antisocial behaviour

A property linked to persistent antisocial behaviour (ASB) in Camborne has been closed for a further three months to help protect the local community and prevent further incidents.

The residential property, located on Park an Tansys, was initially served a three-month full closure order earlier in April this year, making it a criminal offence for anyone, including the tenant, to enter the address.

The closure order was initially granted following repeated reports of suspected drug-related activity and noise disturbances linked to the address.  

Following a review of the circumstances, a further three-month closure order has now been granted and will remain in place until October 2026.

The extension will help prevent the property from becoming a source of further ASB and provide continued reassurance to local residents.

Police Inspector Lou Brown said: “We never take the decision to obtain a closure order lightly.

"However, in this case the address had been the source of repeated reports of ASB which were having a negative impact on people living nearby.

"Everyone deserves to feel safe and comfortable in their own home. No one's quality of life should be affected by ASB in their community.

“Extending the order will help prevent a return of ASB previously associated with the property and provide continued reassurance to local residents.

“We will continue work closely with our ASB Officer Kay Smith to tackle crime and ASB across our communities.”

Kay Smith, Anti Social Behaviour Caseworker for Cornwall Council, covering Camborne said: “Once again we are grateful to the local community for bringing their concerns to our attention and assisting us with the evidence required to obtain this closure.

“You cannot underestimate the effect ASB has on the lives of those living nearby and I want to make it clear we will always do whatever is required to restore peace and calm into our communities. “

The full closure order was granted by Truro Magistrates Court on 14 July.

The local police team and Cornwall Council’s ASB team continue to work alongside local partners to ensure that both the affected community and the tenants receive the right support.

Those living at the address have been linked into appropriate services while the order remains in place.

The Camborne Neighbourhood Policing Team are committed to tackling ASB and will continue to work closely with partner organisations to reduce crime that impacts communities.
